I think I recall Ray Franz mentioning an abstention in CoC. A savvy guy can couch the abstention in terms of humility: "I honestly don't know and defer to the wisdom of the rest of the body," and they can't do anything about it.
Also, the current crop are mostly handpicked by Jaracz, I think. Nobody's going to dissent any time soon.

i feel compelled out of gratitude and love to write this little tale, not because i have lost my faith, but because i realize i am not alone, and as heb 10: 24, 25 states: and let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.. i have never felt nor would i ever think that that scripture applied solely to meeting atendance.
the form of true christian love displayed by many here on this board affirms my faith in jehovah and lets me know i am not alone!.

I will third (or am I fourth?) the notion that this is PR for the public edition of the WT only. The rank and file don't consider themselves members of just a denomination of Christianity. They consider themselves the ONLY TRUE Christians and all others are "so-called Christians."
They continually focus, not on individuals following Christ's model, but on organizations and organizational dogma.

Moshe, there was a recent KoolAid WT on that very subject. The FDS is all of the (growing number) of anointed BUT ONLY the GB "represent" the rest of them and are appointed to distribute spiritual food to the rest of the JWs. The other anointed are FDS in name only...the article was specific in bringing out that they rank below the "other sheep" elders. So basically, for all practical purposes there is no FDS but the 9 goobers on the GB. The other anointed aren't considered as anything different than the rank and file JW. I almost puked during that study.

Ok, "all" can be interpreted to be "all who know of you." Fine. But personally, I don't think there is ANY religion that fulfills this scripture, nor do I think there is meant to be. Jesus was talking to, and about, individual people, not organizations.
i heard one elder say after everyone tried to sing one of their jacked up songs they have now, he said wow now that is a twisted rendition.. ( think there are a lot of people getting fed up with this direction of worshiping the governing body ) .
It seems like any change like this turns out to be the last straw for some people, but it's never enough to make a significant impact on the borg. But one of these days they'll look around their organization and realize that the best and brightest are all gone and they're truly left with mindless robots. They better be careful what they wish for. It's already started. Elder bodies nowadays aren't half as competent as they were when I was a kid. Partly because they're less qualified to lead others and partly because they're totally burned out.
